We’ve been convening the changemakers of the smart buildings industry for 4 years. In 2024, it's time to finally meet up in person—at the very first Nexus Summit.
Yet our first conference is more than just a meetup for our online community. The smart buildings industry deserves a different conference.
Less than 30% of the Nexus community is satisfied with existing conference options. Buyers want to learn more. They tell us that pay-to-play content hurts the educational experience, plus there's not enough expert-level content. Vendors say the same thing—plus they wish they met more interested buyers.
This is an industry that lags behind most others in terms of technology adoption. It's also an industry that needs to rapidly decarbonize. It's time for a conference reflecting the urgency required to break through the stale status quo.
We know how difficult it is to plan an event. We have lots of respect for the other conference organizers. BUT, it feels like we gotta try to shake things up.

A smaller conference (350 people) where all attendees are very engaged and passionate; not a conference where you multitask.
Buyers, Sellers, and Consultants coming together to create an experience that moves things forward for the whole marketplace.
Education is combined with guided, small-group discussions to actually tackle the issues in the marketplace holding things back.
Real-world, honest case studies are balanced with cutting-edge innovations.
The educational sessions are built around two themes (see below), and every session needs to build on them in some way.
The conference content will assume a minimum level of competency. There’s also a special beginner track for those folks who identify as beginners.
Three main tracks—pick your room based on your role and stay in it for all the educational sessions and breakout discussions.
Marketplace room—get non-salesy demos and ask questions to 40 top vendors that span the marketplace.
Fun and enjoyable vibes with good food and coffee. A focus on building connection through shared experiences including small group hikes and assigned dinner pods.
All of our education and collaboration will reinforce and build on one or both of our themes for this conference.
Theme 1: The Real ROI
We'll dive into the business case for smart buildings tech from many different angles and perspectives.
Theme 2: The Digitization<>Decarbonization Nexus
Nexus has always been about knocking down silos. This conference will focus on narrowing the chasm between decarbonization efforts and digitization efforts within real estate organizations.
Education: Three tracks of deep dive education based on your role
Connection: Structured discussion with peers and unstructured networking
Marketplace Exploration: Free time to explore the marketplace and ask vendors questions
