Nexus Pro review: August 2020
Hey friends,
I really enjoyed the member gathering this week and I hope you did too! Thanks for attending and welcoming the new members. And thanks again to Matt Schwartz for speaking to the group. If you missed the event, hereās the recording:
I went ahead and left the last breakout room discussion in the recording. Make sure you check it out⦠I think it was an awesome follow-up discussion and it even included an epic rant by the one-and-only John Petze. Gotta love the passion in this community!
August was a big month for me with the transition to working full time on Nexus. A few changes are in the works already that I think youāll like:
- The podcast is now weekly. I learn so much in each conversation, so Iām excited to have more of them! Stay tuned for a great September lineup. Many of you are on my list for future episodes, so get ready!
- As I said in the gathering, Iāll be testing some new member tools in the near future. Iād like to facilitate a better breakout room experience during gatherings and also provide a way for members to connect between gatherings.
There were 4 deep dives / members-only posts in August, in case you missed any of them:
- The BAS architecture of the future
- š§ #014: Friendly rants volume 3: Crawl, walk, run
- How Switch Automation approaches connectivity by aligning incentives with their clients (Episode #15 reaction and transcript)
- How the multifamily vertical is unique (Episode #16 reaction and transcript)
Again, thanks for being here. Have a great week.
āJames
P.S. There are a lot of new members! If youāre new around here, you might want to bookmark some of these deep dives from the archives to enjoy with your morning coffee this week:
- The BAS industry is broken⦠hereās whyāLooking at the experiences of the building owner, occupant, design engineer, IT team, and contractor
- The energy management hierarchy of needsāIf Iām a building owner and I want to reduce the energy consumption of my portfolio, what options do I have? A great lead into this series š
- Three-part series on advanced supervisory control:
- Part One: Whatās wrong with traditional supervisory controls? Ā What is advanced supervisory control (ASC) 1.0 and how does it help?
- Part Two: What is ASC 2.0? Cutting through the hype. What the hype-busters could be missing.
- Part Three: A strategic approach to ASC
- Why we need digital twinsāOr the best way to get the "jobs-to-be-done" done
- Complement with our June gathering recording: Demystifying Digital Twins
