Nexus Pro review: May 2020
Hey friends,
Just a quick note for you this weekend. As we close out month #1 of Nexus Pro membership, I want to reflect a bit and ask for some feedback.
First, I’m so grateful to have your support. Thank you so much.
Second, I want to share part of an email I received from one of you. I think this captures the ethos of this group:
I believe you are assembling a tribe of people that I want to be a part of, and my hope is that the collective can find a way to provide something better for the customer.
This is not a problem to be solved, it feels like more like a journey where we are all some of the first explorers.
👊
Third, I had a blast with the first gathering of the explorers this week. As another one of you said, it was “a bunch of smart building nerds all in one place”. What’s not to love?
I, along with many of you, wish we would have spent more time on the breakout rooms. In addition to that lesson learned, I took an entire page of notes that I intend to use to improve June’s event. I’ll send out a calendar invite soon.
If you missed the event, here’s a video recording of the interview portion with Scott and Joe:
Thanks to Scott and Joe for their insights and for writing the ASHRAE guide to integrating facilities with the grid.
Fourth, there were 5 members-only deep dives in May, in case you missed any of them:
- How technology is replacing old supervisory controls
- Build it from scratch: How next-generation building automation could change the industry
- The carrot or the stick? Digital transformation for building service providers
- How a platform + app architecture enables a single pane of glass
- Deep vs. shallow integrations and the misaligned incentives in commercial real estate
Finally, as I make the plan for June, I’d love your feedback. Specifically, I have three questions:
- Do you use the podcast deep dives? Are they valuable?
- How can we improve the member gathering?
- What topics are hot on your mind right now?
Again, thanks for being here. Have a great week.

This is a great piece!
I agree.
