NexusCast #2: Turning Retail Restroom Data Into Actionable CMMS Workflows
Jose de Castro walks through a case study where a global retailer partnered with Mapped and Willow to overhaul restroom operations across their corporate portfolio. The starting point schedule-based cleaning rounds that created waste when spaces were underused and missed important cleaning during high traffic times. The team deployed sensors for foot traffic, flush counts, paper towel levels, soap dispensers, and airflow compliance, but quickly learned that sensors alone don't tell the full story and that each vendor's dashboard just adds another tool nobody wants. The breakthrough was using Mapped's IDL to normalize all the signals, feeding them into Willow's rules engine for AI-driven predictions and prioritization, then syncing only the critical, actionable information into the retailer's existing CMMS (Nuvolo) as work orders that look identical to everything else in the system. The AI learns from both live sensor data and previous work order history, creating a feedback loop that gets smarter over time.
