The Buyer's Toolbox: Innovation, the Business Case, Vendor Selection, Procurement, Testing, & Piloting
Welcome to our NexusCon 2024 event recordings! These recordings and slides are available for Nexus Pro Members only.
About NexusConÂ
The industry needed a different type of conference, so we built it. NexusCon 2024 was full of sponsor-free content, real-world case studies, and most importantly, our community.
We heard from 109 speakers across 24 different sessions over a span of 3 days. Although nothing beats the in-person real-time learnings from NexusCon, we are excited to release the NexusCon session recordings to our Nexus Pro Community. We have over 40 hours of hot takes, knowledge bombs, collaborations, and disagreements among smart buildings industry experts to share with you.

About the Session
The buying process is littered with landmines. Inconclusive pilots, company turnover, distracted stakeholders, and the limitless sea of solutions, to name a few. Every seasoned buyer has a bag of tools they've acquired and sharpened over the years to avoid these landmines and turn initiatives into results.
In this session, we'll hear from experienced buyers about what processes they've applied to gain more success. We'll hear from:
- Tishman Speyer on how they funneled dozens of energy management software providers down to the few best candidates, and finally to the right one for their business.
- The Greater Toronto Airports Authority on their process to procure and implement a universal OT cybersecurity solution across their portfolio.
- District Controls on keys to navigating vendor relationships during the buildout of the US State Departmentâs OCONUS Building Automation System / SmartBuildings Operations and Maintenance program.
To keep the ideation fresh, weâll follow each of these case studies with a fireside chat between the building owner and expert industry professionals. Each building owner will be paired with a buyerâs consultant who wasnât involved in the project but is an expert in supporting buyers through their smart building programs. Theyâll work together and engage the audience to extract the themes other buyers should take away to add to their toolset.
